A nine-year-old girl was killed in an accident that happened on State Road 4 on Monday evening, March 1. According to the Florida Highway Patrol news release, five other people, three of which young children, were severely injured in the head-on crash near Baker.
The collision happened about 6:25 p.m. near Keyser Mill Road southeast of Baker. A red Subaru SUV driven by a thirty-nine-year-old woman and four children, all from Evergreen, Alabama, was going eastbound on SR 4. A gray Kia SUV, operated by a woman from Baker (her age is not known) was nearing from the opposite direction. According to the news release, Subaru passed over the center line and hit the front right of the Kia.
Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
The nine-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. A five-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl were critically injured, while a three-year-old girl sustained serious injuries. All three children were taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
Florida Highway Patrol hasn’t identified any of the involved people in the head-on crash near Baker. The collision is under investigation and charges might be pending.
