A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured in an accident and taken to the hospital. The deputy and another driver were injured in an accident that happened on Sunday morning on Interstate 275.
The deputy was inside a marked Ford Explorer, blocking a lane of traffic on I-275 South, before E Floribraska Avenue, at 2:10 a.m, said from the Sheriff’s Office.
Twenty-two-year-old Alan Coston was going south on I-275, driving a rented silver Nissan Altima. Coston did not see the parked patrol vehicle and crashed the Ford Explorer in the back at high speed.
The impact was so strong that forced the Ford Explorer to spin into the inside of the interstate where it stopped. The Nissan overturned across two lanes of traffic before hitting a concrete barrier, when it finally came to rest.
No other vehicle was hit during the crash.
Both the deputy and Coston were taken to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries on their necks and backs.
Impairment was not a factor for the accident, according to deputies. Coston was charged for Violation of the Move Over Law and Careless Driving.
